20 addicts come forward for de-addiction during anti-drugs operation in Jagraon area
Ludhiana, July 10, 2018: As part of the special police drive to crack nexus of drug suppliers, a comprehensive search operation was conducted at villages Kulgehna and Bhundari under Police Station Sidhwan Bet, Ludhiana Rural police district.
In the presence of their Sarpanches along with their predecessors and other prominent residents of the villages and adjoining areas, the police checked each and every house of those suspected of dealing in drugs and illicit liquor trade. The police recovered 8 bottles of illicit liquor from one Amandeep Kaur wife of Sona Singh of village Kulgehna. Legal proceeding were initiated under Excise Act against Amandeep Kaur.
No narcotic substance recovered from the house of anyone from the village, said SSP Ludhiana Rural, Surjeet Singh.
Notably, as many as 20 residents gave their consent to get rid of the drug-addiction in the presence of these prominent people of the both villages. The Civil Surgeon, Ludhiana was contacted and all the addicts, who had given their consent were sent to the De-Addiction Centre with the help of the civil administration. Local area people appreciated this action of Ludhiana Rural Police.
The joint search was conducted by the SHO Police Station Sadar Jagraon, SHO Police Station Sidhwan Bet, Incharge EO Wing, along with Crime Stopper Team and Drug Emergency Response Teams comprising about 100 Police personnel including women police under the command of Rupinder Kumar Bhardwaj, SP Investigation, Ludhiana Rural.
